Album Organization Part 3

I haven't blogged in months but have been recently inspired by Noell Hyman's Play Along. I mentioned in my first post on album organization that I have used both Stacy Julian's LOM system as well as Shimelle's Cover to Cover class for inspiration in how I organize my layouts and how I tell the stories that are most important to me.

Basically I house "Things We Do" chronologically by year in these WRMK black albums. Inspired by Cover to Cover, I worked on my 2007 album all of last year. My "Things We Do" albums include events like birthdays, trips, sports, dance, and holidays.

I began with my 2007 album and looked at all the layouts I'd made so far. I then looked through my photo work flow organization cards from LOM and I figured out which stories still needed telling.
I love these cards as they help keep me on track and I am the type of person who loves checking things off of lists.
As I worked on 2007 stories some layouts went in my "Things We Do" for 2007 and some went into my other LOM categories. I have three other LOM categories: US, FAMILY, and PLACES with lots of subcategories within each album.

I worked on the missing events and created layouts that completed our story for the year. I also created a title page for the album with unused photos. This was the last layout I created. I made a collage of the photos and edged them with paint. I put a simple ribbon and thickers for the year as well as a sort of word bubble that shows some of the events that are documented inside of the album.
First day of school and bday party layouts: some events documented in this album.

I even found some "A Week in the Life" layouts I created way back in 2007.  These were created on Creative Memories pages so I sliced off the staples and inserted them into page protectors and placed them in the 2007 album where they belong chronologically for that year.

Finally I created some project life pages that I placed in the back of the binder at the end of all the layouts. They include a monthly look at our lives in 2007 with snap shots that were not documented in full layouts. I love being able to include these types of photos and journaling. I call this section "Year in Review". I had a Project Life kit that I had received as a gift and hadn't used and chose to use it in this manner. I will continue to use project life in this way with this kit for years 2007-2011.

Project Life: one month at a time.

Year 2007 is now complete and I am so satisfied with how it has turned out. I enjoyed the process and will now work on 2008 in the "Play Along" challenge.

  4. I really like how you add the PL part at the end of each year. I did the weekly PL for 2012 but it was too much and do it monthly now. Good idea of where to put it.
