Playing Along

I participated in Noell Hyman's play along in March.  Her challenge was to complete an album.  Due to Spring Break and and a kitchen remodel I didn't quite get my album done, but I did make some progress.  I decided to work on my 2008 "Things we Do" album and fill in the blanks that still remained.

After going through my existing layouts and my LOM workflow cards I identified the holes in my story.  I was missing a few birthdays and some activities.  Also, I was able to identify some other layouts that I want to make that will go in other album categories.

I created this layout with some left over Disney photos I had from a trip our family took that year.  I had already created an album dedicated to that trip (red album in photo above), but I wanted to document that vacation in my 2008 album.  I reference the travel album in the journaling so readers will know there is more of the story there.

I got to work and made several layouts that I've been wanting to create.  It was nice to immerse myself into this set of photos (2008) and look back at some stories that I didn't want to tell anymore and others that have more meaning today.

After working on missing layouts, I've put post-it notes in the places where the layouts that are missing need to be added.  I now have a plan and have about 5 layouts left to complete this album as well as complete a title page with any photos I don't end up using.

It was fun and rewarding to work on this play along.  I got some insight on the concept of story telling within your scrapbook albums.  I now want to go into some of my other category albums and see which layouts are missing that would add to the overall story I want to tell.

Peace and Happy Scrapping

  1. You're so close! I enjoyed the little peek at the layouts you've created so far. They're cute and colorful -- they remind me a lot of Shimelle's style. :)
